Burnham Dinghy Easter Regatta at Royal Corinthian Yacht Club 2025 (5 min read)
Eight dinghies tackled 29 kt gusts at the Burnham Dinghy Easter Regatta on April 19–20, hosted by Royal Corinthian YC with Royal Burnham, Burnham SC and Creeksea SC. The ILCA 4 fleet shone as George Hutcheon clinched victory, followed by Merlin Rocket duo Stewart Mears & Ally Hall and ILCA 6 ace James Hutton-Penman. Blaze sailor Charlie Matthews and Corinthian Otters youth also impressed, underscoring strong junior development on the River Crouch.

Living in a thin lane starts with razor sharp trim, keep your sails flat and tight without stalling or rolling, watch the jib leech telltale to sheet hard for maximum pointing and ease when a lift hits, coordinate mainsheet, traveller, vang and backstay in unison with backstay or vang first to flatten sails and tighten the forestay, and bail into clear air once you lose your lane, unless a strong tidal gain makes sticking it out beneficial.
