Vilamoura solidified its reputation as a top-tier sailing destination, with eyes now turning to the Dragon Worlds next month.

DOYLE SAILS MAJOR PARTNER OF THE ROUND NORTH ISLAND RACE (5 min read)
Doyle Sails has signed on as the major partner for the 2026 Doyle Sails Round North Island Two-Handed Yacht Race, aligning with SSANZ to support one of New Zealand’s iconic offshore events. The 15th edition will see a strong national and international fleet competing across four legs.

‘Trifork’ wins La Larga line honours (2 min read)
The VO70 Trifork, skippered by Joern Larsen, took line honours in La Larga, part of the Sandberg PalmaVela event, after a challenging 228-mile course around the Balearics. Facing everything from 15-knot breezes to dead calms and squalls, Trifork completed the race in 24 hours and 34 minutes. Final corrected-time winners across all classes will be confirmed once the full fleet finishes, with awards to follow at Real Club Náutico de Palma.

Peters & May Round Antigua Race: Roy Disney’s Pyewacket 70 takes line honours (3 min read)
Roy Disney’s Pyewacket claimed line honours and victory in the Peters & May Round Antigua Race after an exciting duel with Adrian Lee’s HH66 Lee Overlay Partners. In the Almost Round Antigua Race, Steve Rigby’s El Ocaso took line honours and the corrected time win despite tricky squalls and light patches. Both races featured fast reaching, big shifts, and plenty of drama, setting the stage for a lively Antigua Sailing Week ahead.

56th Semaine Olympique Française de Hyères – Overall  (5 min read)
The 56th Semaine Olympique Française de Hyères wrapped up after a full range of conditions tested the world’s top Olympic classes. Germany’s Simon Diesch and Anna Markfort secured 470 gold early, while Italy’s Chiara Benini Floriani claimed her first major win in the ILCA 6. The USA’s Nevin Snow and Ian MacDiarmid delivered a clutch performance to win the 49er, capping a strong day for American skiff sailing. Across all classes, the regatta showed the new wave of talent eyeing Los Angeles 2028.

Harvard University claimed the 2025 College Open Team Race National Championship in Cranston, RI, overcoming tough wind and shifty conditions. After a second-place finish in 2024, they fought their way to the top, beating Yale and Roger Williams in a dramatic final four showdown.

Topper Southwest Traveller Series at Paignton Sailing Club (2 min read)
Paignton Sailing Club hosted the second Southwest Topper Traveller Series event on April 20, 2025, with tricky light winds and large rolling waves challenging the fleets. Victory Montgomery topped the 5.3 fleet, while Audrey Yang led the 4.2s.
