The United States is back on the top step in SailGP after Taylor Canfield’s crew bossed the start, owned Mark One and controlled the Sydney final to beat Emirates GBR and Spain for their first win since 2023, while Australia shockingly missed the three-boat showdown on home water. Offshore, the RORC Caribbean 600 proved worthy of the hype with Leopard 3 claiming overall IRC honors, Black Jack 100 taking monohull line honors after a heavyweight duel, and MOD70 Argo edging Final Final by minutes in a 36-hour blast that also included a sobering Class40 rescue. In winter dinghy land, Sam and Benjamin Pascoe’s Sailjuice campaign mixed swims, light-air frustration and real progress, capped by a win at Oxford Blue and a young helm already eyeing something faster. Shoreside, Ballard Sails’ move to Doyle Sails Seattle plugs Pacific Northwest sailors into a global design network without losing local know-how. Big wins, tight margins and momentum shifting fast.
United States win in Sydney for first SailGP victory since 2023 (3 min read)
Team USA is back on top. Taylor Canfield’s crew owned the start in Sydney, hit the first gate clean, and controlled the three-boat final to beat Emirates GBR and Spain for their first SailGP win since Cádiz 2023. Australia’s Flying Roos didn’t even make the final, a rare miss for the defending champs. With sharp starts and a clear game plan in tricky breeze, the Americans looked calm, fast, and very done with playing catch-up.
2026 RORC Caribbean 600 – Worthy of its legacy (5 min read)
The 2026 Caribbean 600 wasn’t about records. It was about razor-thin margins and zero mistakes. Leopard 3 snagged overall IRC honors for the second time, while Black Jack 100 took monohull line honors after a proper heavyweight duel. In the multihulls, Argo edged out Final Final – Zoulou by just over three minutes after 36 hours of 30 knot chaos. Tight racing, bold calls, and a Class40 rescue that reminded everyone this race is as real as it gets.
Benjamin and Sam Pascoe in the Seldén Sailjuice Winter Series 2025-26 (6 min read)
Winter racing, big fleets, and proper father son chaos. Sam and Benjamin Pascoe took their 2000 through the Seldén Sailjuice series with swims, fightbacks, light wind meltdowns, and a win at the Oxford Blue. There were messy starts, handicap drama, and some cheeky on-water banter, but also serious progress. Benjamin’s now wiring roll tacks, sending it downwind, and expecting a prize every time. After a winter like that, he’s already asking for something faster.
Doyle Sails expands presence in the Pacific Northwest with Doyle Sails Seattle (3 min read)
Ballard Sails is now officially Doyle Sails Seattle, and it’s more upgrade than overhaul. Same crew at Shilshole Marina, same hands on the sewing machines, just now plugged into the global Doyle design engine. They’re already cranking out serious hardware, including an in-house TP52 mainsail, and backing it up with full rigging, offshore campaign support, and race service from Blaine to Olympia. For Pacific Northwest sailors, it’s local knowledge with a much bigger toolbox.
The U.S. SailGP Team just flipped the Sydney script. After last year’s painful capsize in the Harbour City, Taylor Canfield and crew came back swinging, beating Emirates GBR and Los Gallos in a wild, shifty final. Canfield says there was no single winning moment, just surviving the chaos, nailing the last tack, and letting the F50 rip. The Americans now sit third overall and sound hungry. They’re not celebrating like it’s over. They’re celebrating like they’ve got more in the tank.
